Footprints – Preston Beach
Footprints at Preston Beach is a Rapley Wilkinson Development. It is the first of a series of innovative ‘beach shack’ resorts to be developed by the company.
The $50 million beach shack resort development is on a 4 hectare site close to the beach at Preston Beach - a 35-minute drive south of Mandurah.
When fully developed, the resort will comprise 102 beach shacks and 28 larger two-storey townhouses in a similar style.
Amenities will include a restaurant, two heated swimming pools, BBQ areas, tennis court, children’s playground and parking areas for boats and bikes.
The fully equipped shacks and townhouses are strata-titled and were sold to investors and people wanting an inexpensive holiday home.
All have a large timber deck with BBQ and are fully furnished and equipped for hassle-free holidays, with a dishwasher and microwave in the kitchen and a washer and dryer in the separate laundry.
While the resort will have a casual ambience to reflect the traditional holiday style of the area, the shacks are stylish and bold and have been designed by leading architect James Christou.
The resort’s landscaping design is simple and retains the mature trees on the site. The earthy colours of the buildings capture the relaxed resort feel.
The first two stages of the resort opened in late 2008.

The Frangipani – Broome
The Frangipani Resort at Cable Beach is a Rapley Wilkinson development and represents the very best of 4 star resort accommodation.
Spread over nearly 2 hectares at Cable Beach, the $17 million resort consists of 8 villas and 46 apartments set in a tropical garden paradise complete with two tropical pools.
Villas are all 3 bedroom x 2 bathroom, while the apartments are 1 bedroom x 1 bathroom. All are fully airconditioned.
All villas and apartments are strata-titled with approval as short-stay accommodation (3 months pa).
Everything about the Frangipani was designed to position the resort as superior accommodation in the Broome context.
Innovations include the use of a two-keyed system to split the villas into a fully self-contained and independent 1 bedroom x 1 bathroom apartment, plus a 2 bedroom x 1 bathroom villa, which will allow owners to continue earning income while occupying part of their villa.
Each villa and apartment features granite benchtops in both the bathroom and kitchen, and a garden courtyard with a Balinese covered entry containing a day bed and barbecue on its covered verandah. Outdoor shower areas to each unit are screened by 2 metre high walls.
Quality custom designed furniture created by the resort’s interior designer captures the spirit of the Broome style.
Stage 1 was completed in November 2006 and the resort opened in December 2006.
Stage 2 opened in June 2007.
This project was recognised with a prestigious Excellence in Construction Award by the Master Builders Association.
The Award was for the best development comprising multi-unit dwellings having a contract value under $12 million.
