Goomalling District Hospital
Substantial alterations and additions were made to the existing hospital including a new aged care wing with multiple bedrooms with ensuites, lounge, rest areas and day dining areas, plus palliative and acute care facillities.
The existing hospital was completely upgraded including child health, physiotherapy, main entry reception, meeting and office facilities. Also upgraded was the accident and emergency department, with ambulance access maintained at all times.
The building is constructed with red and cream alternative brick bands from ground level to a height of 950mm to the external face wall, then finished with a re-constructed limestone block up to the wall plate height. The building has a new Zincalume roof to match existing.
The hospital extensions were constructed while the Hospital remained in full operational mode, with considerable co-ordination and co-operation between ourselves, the hospital and our sub-contractors being of paramount importance and essential to the successful completion of the project.
Every effort was made to minimise discomfort and disruption to patients and staff caused by noise and dust. The project was built in stages to enable completed facilities to be commissioned and utilised progressively as they became available.
